The purpose of this study is to apply the physical contact play to the infants aged 1 to analyze the effects of the physical contact play on the infant-teacher relation and attachment stability and examine the relationship between infant-teacher relation and attachment stability to help the infant-teacher stable attachment developed. For this purpose, the following hypotheses were set:
First, the physical contact play would affect the infant-teacher relation. Secondly, the physical contact play would affect the infant-teacher stable attachment. Thirdly, the infant-teacher relation would affect their attachment stability.
The researcher reviewed the relevant literature about infants' physical activities and physical contact plays to design a physical contact play. In order to enhance the reliability of the physical contact play, it was referred to 2 infant gymnastics professors, 2 children's house directors with the Ph. D degree and 5 infant teachers for review. Then, the researcher sampled 23 infants enrolled at 'A' and 'B' Children's Houses. 13 infants enrolled at 'A' Children's House were classified into the test group, while 10 ones enrolled at 'B' Children's House were classified into the control group. The test group was subject to the physical contact play program, while the control group was subject to the standard nursing program.
The physical contact play program was operated for the period from Aug. 30, 2021 to Oct. 22, 2021. A total of 16 sessions were operated twice a week. Each session continued for 10 minutes. In order to analyze the effects of the physical contact play on infant-teacher relations, the researcher used 'Student-Teacher Relationship Scale (STRS) developed by Pianta (2001) and translated by Yu Joo Yeon (2016). On the other hand, in order to measure the infant-teacher attachment stability, the researcher used the Q-set invented by Waters and Deane (1985), translated by Park Kyeong Ja and Na Yu Mi (1997) into a 90-item scale, and varied by Yang Ae Kyoung (2006) into a 30-item one. The collected data were processed using the SPSS 26.0 program for independent sample T-test, matching sample T-test and product-moment analysis. The results of this study can be summed up as follows; First, it was found that the effect of the physical play was significant on the sub-factor 'affinity' of the infant-teacher relation, while infant-teacher relation was significantly improved compared with the control group infants. Thus, it could be concluded that the physical contact play program has some positive effects on the infant- teacher relation. Secondly, although the physical contact play did not have significant effects on such sub-factors of infant-teacher attachment stability as social interaction in certain situations, it was found to have some significant effects on infants' dependence, exploration, perception of things and people and infant-teacher attachment stability. Thus, it was fond that the physical contact play had some positive effects on infant-teacher attachment stability. Thirdly, as a result of analyzing the relationship between infant-teacher relation and their attachment stability, it was found that the relationship was not significant in terms of conflicts and dependence, but that the infant-teacher affinity was positively related with the infant-teacher relationship. Thus, it was found that the infant-teacher relation would be significantly correlated with the infant-teacher attachment stability.
As discussed above, it may well be concluded that the physical contact play would have some positive effects on infant-teacher relations and infant-teacher attachment stability. Lastly, it is perceived that this study would provide for some basic data useful to the teachers who suffer in their relations with the infants.
