COVID-19 confirmed patients are continuously occurring, and a number of confirmed patients have occurred in the space of close, dense and sealed. In order to prevent this, continuous ventilation is essential to reduce the concentration of viruses by introducing fresh outdoor air. However, when continuous forced ventilation is performed during cooling and heating, energy consumption is increased rapidly due to ventilation. Therefore, it is essential to introduce Energy Recovery Ventilatior(ERV) that introduces fresh air and absorbs the heat energy of air discharged from the inside to the outside. ERV minimizes ventilation load of cooling and heating load and satisfies enough ventilation amount. However, the temperature and humidity of indoor room are increased due to the humid climate in summer or the low temperature in winter, resulting in condensation inside heat exchanger and fungi or rust. In the existing study, the performance experiment and energy saving effect of ERV were analyzed, and the minimum performance of latent exchange efficiency of ERV was studied to prevent condensation. However, there is a lack of research on the conditions of condensation in the actual heat exchanger and the verification experiments. In this study, we simulated a generation of apartments using TRNSYS18 based on weather data for 3 years in Suwon and Busan. The indoor cooling and heating conditions were different and fixed to 3 conditions, and the number of condensation and the condition of condensation were confirmed according to the type of ERV. In addition, the performance difference was confirmed before and after the dew condensation by conducting an verification experiment to verify whether the dew condensation occurs in the actual that heat exchanger by realizing the dew condensation condition derived from the simulation. Simulations were performed to confirm the dew condensation rate according to the heat conditions and latent exchange efficiency. The indoor temperature and humidity were fixed at 20°C/40%, 26°C/40%, and 27°C/40%. As the indoor temperature increased, the average outdoor air condition temperature where condensation occurred was also increased. Also, the dew condensation rate increased. When the indoor temperature and humidity were 20°C/40% RH, the dew condensation rate of plate 2 decreased by 83.4% compared to plate 1. In rotary, the condensation did not generate. The dew condensation rate was confirmed according to the condition of dew condensation and latent exchange efficiency during cooling. Except for plate 1, there was no condensation in plate 2 and rotary. The indoor temperature and humidity were fixed at 26°C/50% RH, 23°C/50% RH, and 22°C/50% RH. As the indoor temperature was lowered, the average outdoor air condition temperature where condensation occurred was also lowered. When indoor temperature and humidity were fixed at 26°C/50% RH, the condensation rate of Suwon was 0.5%. The mean air condition of condensation was 26.8°C/96.9% RH, which was confirmed to be dew condensation in condition of humid condition even if it is not high temperature. The sensible exchange efficiency of the dew condensation at 26°C/40% RH and 27°C/40% RH during the heating period of plate 1 ERV was 64.5% and 64.9%, respectively and when RA’s temperature and humidity of the cooling period was implemented at 23°C/50% RH and 22°C/50% RH, the sensible exchange efficiency immediately before condensation was 57.5% and 61.2%. The experimental results of rotary ERV showed that the temperature and latent exchange efficiency of over 70% was confirmed when RA’s temperature and humidity of the heating period was identical to plate 1. The temperature and latent exchange efficiency of 68% or more was confirmed when the experiment was conducted under the condition of cooling period. In the condition of rotary heat exchanger, the principle of delivering sensible heat and latent heat is the same, so it was confirmed that sensible exchange efficiency and latent exchange efficiency are similar.
