유-초 연계에 대한 교사들의 인식과 실태 및 교사 협력에 대한 요구 차이 Differences in Teachers' Perceptions and Realities of Educational Continuity between Kindergarten and Elementary School and in Their Demand for Teacher Cooperation원문보기

This study set out to propose the formation of a cooperative system between kindergarten and elementary school teachers based on the "The ecological and dynamic model of transition" by Rimm-Kaufman and Pianta(2000) to support children in a transition process from early childhood education institution to elementary school. A survey was conducted with 136 kindergarten teachers that had experiences with teaching five-year-olds and 152 elementary school teachers that had experiences with teaching first graders around the nation to collect basic data to build a cooperative system between them for smooth educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school. A mixed group interview followed which took place five times in total(two kindergarten and elementary school teachers each for an interview) with ten kindergarten and elementary school teachers each to supplement quantitative data from the survey and gather in-depth opinions. Collected quantitative data was treated with the SPSS version 21.0 program to obtain frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Chi-square tests and independent-sample t-tests were conducted to examine differences in the perceptions and realities of educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school between homeroom teachers in charge of five-year-olds in kindergarten and first-grade teachers in elementary school. In the study, qualitative data was collected through recording. After the interviews were transcribed with no omissions, the responses were categorized according to the research questions and reflected on findings with no revisions. The main findings were as follows: first, the study examined differences in the perceptions of teacher cooperation and found that both kindergarten and elementary school teachers understood the meaning of educational continuity between the Nuri Curriculum and the Elementary Curriculum as "continuity in curricular composition." Kindergarten teachers showed a higher level of interest, need, and implementation by the area in educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school than elementary school teachers; secondly, as for collaboration between teachers, elementary school teachers fell short of kindergarten teachers in the degree of doing activities for educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school and of participating in in-service training related to educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school. Kindergarten teachers were higher in the reflection of educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school, play, and children's interest in their curricular management than elementary school teachers. The two groups were also different in interactions in the classroom; and finally, the study examined teachers' needs for cooperation and found that elementary school teachers had great demand for "passing children's records on to teachers." Both kindergarten and elementary school teachers had a high expectation for the effectiveness of "spreading available programs for educational continuity between kindergarten and elementary school." The two groups also voiced a common need for a "venue of communication" to exchange educational environments and opinions each other and cited a professional learning community as the most appropriate form. The present study examined differences in opinions by collecting quantitative and qualitative data from kindergarten and elementary school teachers since the implementation of the Revised Nuri Curriculum of 20 19 and proposed the nation's first middle system between kindergarten and elementary school teachers based on the "The ecological and dynamic model of transition" The study also offered them a chance to experience a venue of communication between kindergarten and elementary school teachers with a mixed group interview and provided basic data to establish a cooperative system between them.
