ESG sustainable management activities are the management approach based on the investor's point of view when evaluating corporate value. It can be understood as a natural fact to look at corporate value from an investor's point of view, but it means that shareholder-centered corporate management can no longer guarantee corporate sustainability, and that ESG sustainability management activities can meet the diverse needs of all stakeholders and the needs of all stakeholders. This indicates that the sustainability of a company can be guaranteed when such expectations can be met. ESG sustainability management strategy is evaluated as the core to ensure corporate sustainability. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between ESG sustainable management activities and corporate sustainability using the ESG evaluation results and indicators that can explain corporate sustainability. For the ESG evaluation results, the overall ESG and scores for each ESG area provided by the Korea Corporate Governance Service were used. The indicators explaining the sustainability of a company are the sustainability of profits (Model 1) and the company’s credit rating ( Model 2), corporate value (Model 3), and profitability index (Model 4) were used as performance indicators of the company. For the sustainability of earnings, the time-series auto-correlation coefficient between the current year net income and the previous year net income (Sloan 1996) was used, and the credit rating of a company was used. For the analysis period from 2015 to 2020, 3,465 company-year data were used for analysis using available data of listed companies (KOSPI). As a result of the empirical analysis, a significant positive (+) correlation was confirmed in all hypotheses. The relationship between the sustainability of the first profit and ESG sustainable management activities was confirmed to have a significant positive (+) correlation. In the case of the second credit rating, the higher the ESG score, the higher the credit relationship was observed. A significant positive relationship was also observed in the third relationship between corporate value and ESG sustainable management activities, and the fourth relationship between return on assets (ROA) and ESG sustainable management activities was also significantly positive. In order to supplement the verification results, the results were also robust in the two-stage least square (SLS) analysis that considered the endogeneity between the ESG evaluation results and variables. A similar result was also drawn when the samples were separated into two group based on the total assets of 2 trillion Korean won. Also, the results of the analysis by extending the period of the dependent variable to t+2 were found to be robust as in the initial analysis. However, no significant correlation was observed in the result of using the return on sales (NPM) instead of the return on assets (ROA) as a proxy for corporate performance, unlike the results of analysis using the return on assets (ROA). It was confirmed that there was a difference in significant relevance according to the performance indicators. From an investor's point of view, the expansion of ESG sustainable management activities is described as an alternative to guarantee corporate sustainability and lower the risk of investment. The empirical results of this study are expected to provide important implications for the capital market for the expansion of ESG sustainable management activities in the future.
