A characteristic of modern society is that the characteristics of various wastewater such as household sewage, industrial wastewater, and leachate generated due to the increase of population and industrialization are diversified, and there are many difficulties in efficient treatment. Nitrogen and phosphorus are nutritive salts considered importantly when emitting out. Nutritive salts is mainly generated from manure, agricultural fertilizers, synthetic detergents, etc., and when the generated sewage and wastewater flows into rivers or lakes including rivers in an untreated state, dissolved oxygen deficiency in water, eutrophication, red tide, fish toxins, etc. occur. In the wastewater discharged from industrial facilities, the amount of organic matter decreases and the relative inorganic matter content increases every year. In the process of denitrification of nitrogen, the carbon sources become insufficient. The denitrification-nitrification process for nitrogen removal in the wastewater treatment process requires organic carbon as an electron donor during denitrification, so it is necessary to add an external carbon source to wastewater that lacks organic matter. However, there are risks of obstruction and of an increase in the amount of sludge generated. External carbon sources used for denitrification include methanol, ethanol, and food wastewater, and various studies have been conducted on this. However, if this external carbon source is not used properly, the denitrification efficiency may be lowered, water quality may deteriorate due to an increase in COD, and may result in a decrease in the nitrification efficiency of the nitrification filter tank. In this study, we tried to investigate the nitrogen removal characteristics in wastewater when food wastewater, methanol, and antibiotic-announced wastewater are applied as external carbon sources to the continuous wastewater treatment process. This study was conducted in a biological batch-type reactor, and in order to see the denitrification efficiency for nitrate nitrogen, prepared wastewater using KNO3 reagent was injected so as to become 1.4 mg/L in the reactor, and methanol, A food wastewater, H food wastewater, and antibiotic fermentation waste (By-Product) were injected in the same amount for each external carbon source and compared. When methanol, H food wastewater water, and antibiotic fermentation waste (By-Product) were added, the total solids concentration of the sludge in the bioreactor decreased by 5.2 %, 17.4 %, and 3.5 %, respectively, but the total solids concentration in primary treated and A food wastewater increased by 9.1% and 8.3%, respectively. In addition, when methanol, primary treated water, and antibiotic fermentation waste (By-Product) were added, the concentration of T-N in the bioreactor treated water was reduced by 15.6 %, 0.97 %, and 7.9 %, respectively, but the T-N of the A and H food wastes were respectively increased to 7.2 % and 2.99 %. When methanol, primary treated water, antibiotic fermentation waste, A food wastewater, and H food wastewater were input as external carbon sources, the concentration of NO3-N showed a tendency to decrease by 56.4 %, 9.95 %, 18.5 %, 11.8 %, and 18.3 %, respectively. When organic waste resources are applied as external carbon sources in the wastewater treatment process, it is possible to supply insufficient carbon sources in the denitrification process, but it is judged that the nitrogen concentration of organic waste resources can rather increase the concentration of T-N. In the future, we intend to conduct additional research on the decomposition potential of nitrogen sources contained in food wastewater and antibiotic fermentation waste (by-product) in the wastewater treatment process through continuous experiments by type of organic waste resources.
