Recently, K-Pop has been produced globally for international markets. Addictive melody and simple lyrics make it easy for foreigners to sing along. Most of the themes can be resonate with the MZ generation and show the emotional life culture of Koreans. When the term “Korean wave” appeared in the 1990s, young Chinese began to pay attention to Korean pop culture, especially K-Pop. Now social media platforms such as Weibo, TikTok, QQ Music, and Xiao Hongshu provide opportunities for Chinese fans to communicate with their favorite K-Pop idols and other K-Pop fans. With the goal of providing insight into how Chinese people view K-Pop culture, this paper analyzes Chinese social media users’ opinions on K-Pop. In the comment analysis section, 3,800 “K-Pop” related comments were selected from social platforms such as Sina Weibo and TikTok. The data was collected by a big data collection tool Web Scraper and analyzed by Chinese big data analysis tool ROST CM6 and Gooseeker. After frequency analysis, semantic network analysis and emotion analysis, the results visualized by an online word cloud generator weiciyun. The research results show that on social media platforms such as Weibo, Tiktok, and QQ Music, Chinese people generally hold positive attitudes towards K-Pop “album concept”, “melody and lyrics”, “stage performance”, “idol appearance”, “Korean society and culture”, etc. In addition, it is not just a discussion of K-Pop entertainment between Korean and Chinese netizens, but also around commercialization of K-Pop, social regulations on appearance, and even new lifestyles(6b4t). Because numerous K-Pop content exposes inequality issues in reality and conveys progressive gender awareness. On the other hand, interest-oriented comments, sensational translations, and distorted historical facts by existing media and bloggers have aroused antipathy among Chinese netizens. In this regard, it is necessary to avoid self-ethnicism and take a more cautious and reasonable attitude towards international issues. Internet users should also improve their discriminative abilities. Hoped that this paper can provide students who want to learn Korean, especially K-Pop fans, with a perspective to understand K-Pop culture, and help them objectively analyze and self-reflect on the disputes that exist in the cultural communication between Korea and China.
