This study attempted to verify the effect of perceived parental psychological control in early adults on displaced aggression and the sequential double-mediated effects of covert narcissism and negative urgency in this relationship. For the study, an online survey of 263 adult men and women aged 19 to 35 (92 men and 171 women) was conducted, consisting of a parent's psychological control scale, a Korean version of displaced aggression scale, an covert narcissism scale, and a negative urgency scale, and the collected data were analyzed. The main results of this study are summarized as follows. First, a significant static correlation was confirmed in the relationship between parents' psychological control, covert narcissism, negative urgency, and displaced aggression. Second, the mediating effect of covert narcissism was verified in the relationship between parental psychological control and displaced aggression. In other words, it was confirmed that the psychological control of perceived parents affects displaced aggression through covert narcissism. Third, the mediating effect of negative urgency was verified in the relationship between parental psychological control and displaced aggression. In other words, it was confirmed that perceived parental psychological control affects displaced aggression through negative urgency. Fourth, the sequential dual mediating effect of covert narcissism and negative urgency was verified in the relationship between parental psychological control and displaced aggression. In other words, it was confirmed that perceived parental psychological control affects displaced aggression through covert narcissism and negative urgency. Through this study, we tried to understand the psychological characteristics of people with high displaced aggression by identifying external and internal factors that affect displaced aggression and to prepare basic data for therapeutic intervention. Finally, based on these results, the significance and limitations of this study and suggestions for follow-up research were discussed.
