The Department of Music Education at Chinese Teachers' Colleges was established to cultivate talents who can work in primary and secondary schools or in music-related fields. Music education in China has developed since the first policy was established in 1912, and has evolved over the course of more than a century in response to historical changes. In 1999, the Chinese government implemented the policy of "expanding educational opportunities" to enable more people to receive education, leading to a transitional period for higher education in all fields. Riding the wave of change, the number of music majors increased due to the expansion of enrollment, which led to a broader awareness of Western European music. Among the various cities in China, the music education system in Jiangxi Province also experienced changes. However, today's educational situation in Jiangxi remains conservative, failing to adequately respond to changes over time and reaching a state of stagnation. As a graduate of the Piano Department of Jiangxi Teachers' College, the author has a strong attachment and interest in the city. Witnessing the stagnation of university curricula, the author aims to propose solutions and revitalization strategies for local universities through research. This thesis analyzes and compares the educational situations of the piano departments at five teachers' colleges in Jiangxi Province, with the goal of suggesting realistic and feasible solutions. The biggest issue facing Jiangxi Teachers' Colleges is the imbalance between supply and demand for music teachers. While the boom in music education has led to a significant increase in graduates in related fields, local communities have struggled to adapt to the sudden change, resulting in an oversupply of music teachers. Furthermore, it is questionable whether all graduates possess a sense of mission and educational competence as teachers. To improve the situation at Chinese universities facing various challenges, the author first identified the strengths and weaknesses by comparing the circumstances, course catalogs, educational objectives, curricula, piano lesson styles, piano performance examination regulations, faculty, and educational environments of the five teachers' colleges in Jiangxi Province. Additionally, questionnaires were distributed to current students and graduates for detailed information, and interviews were conducted with professors. This thesis proposes various solutions for the identified problems and suggests improvements considering each region's situation. Furthermore, the author proposes selecting exemplary universities across China and applying their systems to teachers' colleges in Jiangxi Province based on a comparative study of their institutions.
