This study was conducted to verify the impact of parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and resilience on school adjustments among migrant adolescents. The purpose was to investigate whether there was a mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between the relationships with their parents and peers, school climate, and school adjustments among migrant adolescents. A survey was conducted targeting migrant adolescents in middle and high schools located in Shandong Province, China, and data were collected from a total of 444 migrant adolescents. Statistical analysis was conducted using SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 24.0 programs. To analyze the general tendencies of the research subjects, frequency analysis and descriptive statistics were performed. To confirm the differences between groups, t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Scheffe tests were conducted for post-hoc testing. Correlation analysis was conducted to confirm the correlation between major variables such as parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, resilience, and school adjustments. The Durbin-Watson statistic and VIF index were calculated to evaluate the fitness of the regression model, and hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to analyze the relative impact of each independent variable on school adjustments. Structural equation modeling was used to conduct measurement and structural analyses of the mediating model of resilience in the relationship between parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and school adjustments among migrant adolescents. The summary of the study results is as follows: First, when examining the general characteristics of school adjustments, parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and resilience, the scores for each measurement point were as follows: school adjustments had an average score of 3.95, parent-child relationships had a score of 3.76, peer relationships had a score of 3.93, school environment had a score of 4.13, and resilience had a score of 4.07. Second, when verifying the differences in school adjustments, parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and resilience according to general characteristics (gender, age, residency time, subjective health level, academic performance, parents' job, and average household income), significant differences were found in school adjustments for age, subjective health level, and academic performance. Parent-child relationships showed significant differences based on residency time, subjective health level, and academic performance. Peer relationships showed significant differences based on residency time, subjective health level, academic performance and parents' job. School climate showed significant differences based on residency time, subjective health level, and academic performance, while resilience showed significant differences based on subjective health level. Third, in order to confirm whether there were significant correlations between each variable, correlation analysis was conducted, and the results showed significant positive correlations between parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and resilience with school adjustments. Parent-child relationships, peer relationships, and school climate also showed significant positive correlations with resilience. Fourth, when examining the impact of parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and resilience on school adjustments in migrant adolescents, parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and resilience had a significant static impact on school adjustments. In addition, the structural model analysis showed that parent-child relationships, school climate, and resilience had a significant static impact on the path leading to school adjustments, and parent-child relationships, peer relationships, and school climate had a significant static impact on the path leading to resilience. Finally, when examining the mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between parent-child relationships, peer relationships, school climate, and school adjustments in migrant adolescents, it was found that resilience mediated the relationship between all three variables and school adjustments. Based on the analysis results of this study, the practical and policy suggestions to improve the school adjustments of migrant adolescents can be summarized as follows: Firstly, the study results showed that the parent-child relationship has the greatest influence on the school adjustments of migrant adolescents. To improve the school adjustments of migrant adolescents, there is a need to expand opportunities for parent counseling and education programs to improve the quality of parent-child relationships. Secondly, since peer relationships can also affect the school adjustments of migrant adolescents, it is necessary to develop relationship improvement programs that can increase understanding and awareness of migrant adolescents based on the characteristics of different peer groups. Thirdly, the school climate should be student-centered and an educational space that accepts various perspectives and emphasizes communication, coexistence, and consideration. Based on the study results, the school climate was a positive space where migrant adolescents could expect their own development and school adjustment, and it is necessary to establish a school climate that aims to promote creativity overall and cultivate teachers' abilities to eliminate biases and apply homeroom teacher tenure. Lastly, this study found that parent-child relationships, peer relationships, and school climate have a significant impact on the migrant adolescent’s school adjustment through resilience. Therefore, schools, community organizations, and the government should develop systematic adaptation programs that focus on individual resources to help the migrant adolescents improve their abilities and seek concrete ways to enhance their resources and capabilities.
