장기체류외국인의 생활만족도에 미치는 영향요인에 관한 연구 : 이주민의 생활만족도 영향요인 A study on the factors influencing the satisfaction with life in Korea of long-term foreigner residents원문보기

As the size of the productive population shrinks, various social problems such as weakening national competitiveness and slowing economic growth are predictable, and it is necessary to quickly establish a unified immigration policy at the pan-governmental level and establish an immigration control tower to prevent duplication and ineffective foreign policy. As of October 2023, the number of short- and long-term foreign residents exceeded 2.49 million, and in 2024, Korea is expected to become the first Asian country in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to have more than 5 percent of its population comprised of foreigners, making it a "multiracial and multicultural" country. In this situation, it is necessary to seriously consider institutional support and infrastructure construction for the things that foreign residents in Korea value from their perspective in order to help them adapt smoothly and lead a satisfying life while contributing to our national interests. For this study, we used statistical data from the Immigrant Status and Employment Survey (2022), which is conducted annually by the Ministry of Justice and Statistics Korea for foreigners living in Korea, and while previous studies have focused on specific qualifications, such as married immigrants and foreign workers, we expanded the scope of the study to analyze the factors affecting the life satisfaction of major long-term resident foreigners by setting their life satisfaction as the dependent variable and personal, social, cultural, and economic factors as independent variables. The results of the study, including statistical analysis of general characteristics, correlation analysis of life satisfaction, and multiple regression analysis, were analyzed by focusing on long-term foreign residents. First, we found that the better they adapted to their surroundings and had good relationships, the higher their life satisfaction. Second, the more satisfied they were with the public transportation, security, healthcare, education, and epidemic prevention systems, the higher their life satisfaction. Third, enjoying various leisure activities and being satisfied with their leisure activities had a positive impact on life satisfaction. Based on these results, we found that it is important to support foreigners through transportation guidance projects, expanding health insurance coverage, and providing educational opportunities for children of multicultural families. In addition, it is necessary to expand the number of support targets and items so that people can lead leisure activities such as various hobbies by operating programs such as communities using local infrastructure. With the rapid increase in the influx of foreigners, the lack of a control tower for immigration policy and the lack of multicultural acceptance among Koreans has led to confusion in immigration policy and difficulties in the stable settlement of migrants. Studies have shown that overall life satisfaction is more influenced by sociological characteristics such as relationships and housing environment than demographic characteristics such as gender, age, and length of stay, so a delicate approach should be attempted for each status of residence.
