Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) currently in commercial use are primarily employed in small devices due to their high energy density and long lifespan compared to conventional batteries. However, these batteries, utilizing organic electrolytes, possess characteristics of flammability and thermal instability, posing significant safety concerns. Moreover, with the advent of electric vehicles, there is an increasing market demand for higher energy density in secondary battery systems. All-Solid-State batteries (ASSBs) have emerged as next-generation batteries aiming to address safety issues associated with organic electrolytes while enhancing energy density by utilizing high-capacity cathodes or lithium metal as the anode. Particularly, Anode-Less All- Solid-State batteries (ALASSBs) are gaining prominence as an ideal battery solution, especially for large-scale secondary applications like electric vehicles and Energy Storage Systems (ESS), driven by concerns related to climate change. However, ALASSBs face challenges such as interface segregation between the solid electrolyte and electrodes during the lithium insertion/extraction process, resulting in low cycle stability. To address this limitation, prior research has been conducted on modification of current collector, 3D structural design, and binder modifications. This study aimed to overcome the limitations of conventional Anode-less All-Solid-State batteries by modifying the electrode surface using conductive polymers PEDOT:PSS and Styrene Butadiene Rubber(SBR) to form ultra-thin nano layer, analyzing their electrochemical properties. The blending of these polymers enhanced the mechanical properties of the polymer softly, promoting intimate interfacial formation between the electrode and solid electrolyte, thereby inducing uniform lithium plating. The lithium metal deposited on the PEDOT:PSS and SBR coated current collector exhibited dense and uniform morphology, attributed to reduced lithium nucleation energy and lower overpotential, leading to the formation of a uniform interface. We achieved that the characteristics of supple polymers facilitate the stable formation of interfaces between the electrode and solid electrolyte, enabling uniform lithium-ion flux and plating.
