The central idea is the concept of ''interactive work components" facilitating interactive and cooperative functionality at every place in a eInteractive and Responsive Spaces. This paper described the current state of the design considerations, the first realization of interactive components and the requirements for the software currently under development. Since the described components of IRS introduce new, to some degree unfamiliar forms of human-computer interaction, there is a need to evaluate their usefulness and their usability in a systematic fashion.

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of uIntelli-gent and Responsive Spaces(lRS)" and several 14In.terac-tive Wrk Components" and place them in the context of the integrated design of real and physical spaces, and virtual and digital information spaces. We also describe the current realization of IRS which includes all of the interactive work components.
