볼록한 지붕을 갖는 이방성 고분자 입자는 어떤 단계를 거쳐 만들어 지는가? | 볼록한 지붕을 갖는 이방성 고분자 입자는 Figure 1(a)와 같이 간단한 세 단계 공정에 의해 만들어진다. 먼저, 광중합이 가능한 단량체 용액(PEG-DA)을 폴리디메틸실록산 몰드의 음각 패턴 안으로 넣어준다. 몰드위에 존재하는 여분의 단량체 용액은 피펫을 이용하여 제거해 준다. 그 다음 몰드 위로 젖 음성 용액(mineral oil)을 조심스럽게 넣어준다. 이때, 몰드 패턴 내부에 있는 단량체 용액보다 소수성성질을 지닌 몰드 재질인 폴리디메틸실록산과 젖음성 용액이 친화력이 좋기 때문에 폴리디메틸실록산의 벽을 따라 음각 패턴 내부로 젖게 된다. 이와 동시에, 침투한 젖음성 용액의 부피만큼 내부에 갇혀 있던 단량체 용액은 패턴 밖으로 밀려나오게 된다. 그 단 량체 용액은 젖음성 용액과 계면을 이루게 되며 계면장력으로 인해 볼록한 곡률을 지니는 단량체 유체의 모양을 가지는 이방성 액적이 형성된다. 마지막으로 이 상태를 유지하면서 자외선을 조사하였다. 조사된 자외선은 광중합을 유도하여 형성된 액적 모양과 똑같은 고분자 입자를 제조하게 된다. 이 모든 과정은 5분 이내로 진행되어 일반 실험실에서도 매우 빠르고 간단하게 이방성 입자를 제조 방법으로 활용될 수 있다. |
