본 연구는 전북지역 방송3사가 버스파업이라는 사회적 갈등을 어떤 방식으로 보도하였으며, 방송사 간의 보도의 차이는 무엇인지 프레임분석을 통해 알아보았다. 분석결과 형식적 프레임에 있어 방송 3사 모두 일화 중심적 프레임의 비율이 상대적으로 높게 나타나, 뉴스보도가 과격시위와 강경투쟁 등 사건중심에 초점을 맞추고 있으며 노사 갈등 사안에 관한 근본원인에 대한 심층적인 보도가 부족함을 알 수 있다. 내용적 프레임에서는 파업의 해결과정이나 대안을 제시하는 민주적 절차프레임이나 제도개선 프레임은 부각되지 못하고 갈등대치 프레임이 강하게 나타났다. 결과적으로 버스파업에 대한 뉴스보도는 파업이 발생하게 된 근본원인과 배경에 대한 심도 깊은 접근과 대안적인 해결방안이 부족했으며, 이슈에 대한 부정적인 시각 이외에 다양한 목소리와 현상을 보다 심층적으로 접근하기 위한 노력이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
