초등학생의 또래 괴롭힘에 보다 주목할 필요가 있는 이유는? | 또래 괴롭힘은 유아기부터 시작되어[20] 본격적으로 또래관계를 확장해 가는 초등학교 시절에 주로 일어난다. 초등학교 4-6학년의 25%가 또래 괴롭힘을 경험하고[57], 또 다른 연구에서는 초등학교 고학년의 경우 집단따돌림이 전체 아동의 절반 가까이에서 행해진다고 보고될 만큼[47], 또래 괴롭힘은 초등학교 고학년 시기가 중·고등학교 시기보다 높은 가해/피해율을 보인다[59]. 또한, 또래 괴롭힘 피해학생들의 일부는 1년 이상 장기적으로 괴롭힘을 당하고 있고[14], 지속적인 또래 괴롭힘 경험은 심리적 건강에 부정적인 영향을 미친다[93]. 따라서 초등학생의 또래 괴롭힘에 보다 주목할 필요가 있겠다. |
