제품에 있어서의 모듈 구조의 각각의 방식은 기능 요소와 인터페이스 방식의 정의에 따라 달라지는데, Go(2006)는 제품, 서비스의 여섯 가지 모듈화 유형을 어떻게 나누었는가? 제품에 있어서의 모듈 구조의 각각의 방식은 기능 요소와 인터페이스 방식의 정의에 따라 달라진다. Bae(2005)는 이들 방식의 차이를 모듈들간의 상호작용 및 유기적 관계에 따라 슬롯(slot), 버스(bus), 섹셔널(sectional) 세 가지 방식으로 구분하였으며, Go(2006)은 제품, 서비스의 여섯 가지 모듈화 유형을 Ulrich and Tung(1991)의 이론에 의해 구성 요소 공유형 모듈화(Component-Sharing Modularity), 구성 요소 교환형 모듈화(Component-Swapping Mo- dularity), 맞춤형 모듈화(Cut-To-Fit Modularity), 혼합형 모듈화(Mix Modularity), 버스형 모듈화(Bus Modularity), 조립형 모듈화(Sectional Modularity)로 나누었다.
