보건 의료종사자들의 호흡보호구 적합도의 중요성을 확인할 수 있었던 계기는 무엇인가? | 이 같은 위험은 올해 유행하였던 중동호흡기질환 즉, MERS(Middle East Respiratory Syndrome)로 확인되었다. 2015년 5월 20일부터 약 2개월 동안 계속된 MERS로 인한 확진 환자는 186명이었고 이 중 36(19.4%)명이 사망하였다. 확진자 중 21.0%에 해당하는 39명은 의사, 간호사 등 병원 관련 종사자들이었다(Korean CDC, 2015a). 따라서 금번 MERS 사태를 통하여 직접적으로 환자와 접촉하는 보건의료종사자들이 급성 공기매개감염성 질환이 유행할 때 어떤 호흡보호구가 적합한지, 또 어떻게 착용해야 감염위험을 줄일 수 있는지에 많은 관심이 집중되었다. |
