근로자의 개인 건강 관리와 기업 생산성 향상을 위해 대사증후군으로 인한 근로자의 건강문제를 관리해야하는 이유는 무엇인가? | 최근 대사증후군에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위한 연구들이 많이 진행되고 있는데 그 중 Park (2007)의 연구에 의하면 대사증후군 위험요인이 직무 스트레스와 관련이 있음을 보고하였고, Vitaliano 등(2002)의 연구에서는 직무 스트레스가 대사증후군을 발생시키고 이것이 심혈관계질환을 유발시킨다고 하였다. 직장인들은 수많은 직무 스트레스에 노출되고 있으며 이것은 음주, 흡연 등 부정적인 건강행동을 형성하게 된다(Kim, 2005). Lee 등(2010)의 연구에 따르면 직장인의 직무 스트레스는 그 수준이 높아질수록 고혈압, 체질량지수, 총콜레스테롤의 농도가 높게 나타났으며, HDL (High-density lipoprotein)-콜레스테롤 농도는 낮게 나타나 직무 스트레스가 대사증후군을 높이는 원인으로 제시되었다. 또한 직무 스트레스로 인한 부정적 영향은 근로자 개인의 신체적, 정신적 건강의 악화뿐만 아니라 직무만족도와 조직몰입을 감소시키고 결근 및 조퇴, 이직 등으로 인한 생산성 저하와 같은 경제적 손실을 가져오게 된다(Kim et al., 2009). 그러므로 직장에서는 근로자의 개인 건강관리 측면 뿐만 아니라 기업의 생산성 향상을 위해서도 대사증후군으로 인한 근로자의 건강문제를 관리할 필요가 있다. |
