최근 들어 드론을 활용한 다양한 사업이 국내외를 막론하고 활발하게 이루어지고 있다. 특별히 브이월드, 구글 지도, 네이버 지도, 다음 지도 등과 같은 지도 서비스 제공 업체들은 드론과 같은 무인 항공기로 촬영한 사진을 이용하여 제작된 정사영상으로 2차원 지도 서비스를 하고 있다. 이렇게 취득된 원본 정사영상은 큰 데이터 사이즈로 인해 바로 서비스하기에는 성능의 문제가 있어, 미리 제작된 타일로 서비스 하는 tile map service(TMS)를 활용하고 있다. 하지만, 미리 타일을 제작하는데 많은 시간과 비용이 소모가 된다. 드론을 이용한 촬영 빈도수가 빈번해졌음에도 불구하고 이러한 문제로 서비스에 반영되는 주기는 여전히 느리다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 드론으로 촬영한 사진을 이용하여 제작된 정사영상을 공개 소프트웨어를 사용하여 실시간으로 서비스하는 시스템을 설계하고 프로토타입을 개발함으로, 타일 제작에 소모되는 비용과 시간을 줄이고, 서비스에 바로 적용될 수 있도록 하고자 하였다.
