"광산지질"에서 "자원환경지질"로 학회지명 변경 이전인 1993년까지는 '암석학 및 지구화학'의 논문이 21.5%(121편)였지만 "자원환경지질"로 변경된 1994년 이후는 34.1%(452편)를 차지한다. 학술지 권호 및 연구분야별 분석결과에 따르면, '암석학 및 지구화학'의 논문은 21-30권호부터 급증하는 경향을 보이고 있다. 그러나, '금속광상'과 '비금속광상' 영역은 최근호로 올수록 감소하는 추세가 두드러지고 있다. 본 자료는 학술지 "자원환경지질"의 50년 역사를 종합적으로 재조명하기 위해 수록된 논문들을 양적으로 분석하고 이를 토대로 향후 발전과제를 탐색해 봄으로써 총체적 모습을 파악하기 위한 단초를 제공했다는데 의의가 있다.
