감정노동이란? | 감정노동(emotional labor)이라는 개념은 Hochschild 가 처음 제안한 것으로 알려져 있다[1]. Hochschild는 비 행 승무원을 대상으로 한 저서 『The Managed Heart: Commercialization of Human Feeling』을 통해, 감정노 동이란 외부적으로 관찰 가능한 표정과 행동적인 표현을 만들어내기 위해 감정을 조절하는 것이라 정의 하였다 [1]. 즉 감정을 인위적으로 조절하는 것을 노동으로 본 것인데, 특히 서비스 분야의 종사자들이 육체노동과 정신노동 외에 고객과의 상호작용 과정에서 자신의 감정을 관리하여 적절한 감정을 만들어내는 형태의 노동을 감정 노동이라고 본 것이다. | |
감정노동이 초래하는 문제점은? | 이런 의미에서 감정노동은 실제로 내면에서 느끼는 감정과 겉으로 드러나는 표면적인 감정 사이의 괴리와 관련되어 있으며 대부분의 서비스 근로자 들이 경험하는 것으로 볼 수 있다[2]. Hochschild는 이러한 감정노동이 장시간 지속되면 약물남용, 알코올중독, 두통, 결근 등의 문제가 초래되며, 이러한 부정적인 영향 은 개인뿐만 아니라 조직에도 해를 끼친다고 하였다[1]. |
