본 연구는 코로나19가 공연예술계에 가져온 국내·외의 변화를 살펴보고 그 대응방안을 도출하기 위하여 언론리뷰와 문헌조사를 통하여 내용 분석을 실시하였으며 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 코로나19 이후 세계 모든 극단과 공연장은 공연 스트리밍에 적극적인 입장을 취한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 공연 영상화가 적극적으로 이루어졌으며, 이러한 공연 영상화는 기존 극장 공연의 보완재가 되고 있었다. 셋째, 공연 제작 소비 행태의 변화에서는 빈익빈 부익부의 현상이 나타났으며, 다양한 공연들을 온라인으로 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공하는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 코로나19 이후 영국의 경우 직원 고용유지 지원책과 자영업자 및 프리랜서 지원책, 영국 문화예술위원회의 긴급 지원금 정책이 있으며. 한국 정부는 공연예술관람료, 예술인을 위한 창작 준비금, 학교예술강사 생계유지를 위한 강사비 등의 제도가 발표, 집행 중에 있다. 다섯째, 코로나19 이후의 대응방안으로는 공연 영상화에 꾸준히 자본과 기술을 투입하여 온라인과 오프라인이 상생할 수 있는 구조 마련이 시급하며 해외 유수 공연 단체와의 전략적 제휴와 플랫폼 공유 전략이 필요하다고 분석되었다.
