스마트도서관의 설치는 지속적으로 늘어남에 따라 이용자 증대와 서비스 품질 향상을 위해 활성화 방안이 필요하다. 본 연구는 인천광역시 A도서관 내 4곳의 스마트도서관에 대한 2020년 6월부터 2023년 12월까지의 이용현황을 분석하였으며, 이용자 만족도 조사 및 담당 사서와의 질의응답 조사를 수행하였다. 비치도서 수와 대출 수는 모두 증가하였으며 공공도서관이 없는 지역의 스마트도서관은 높은 이용량을 보였다. 이용자들의 스마트도서관 만족도는 높았으나, 대출 권수 제한과 부족한 비치도서 등의 불편 사항이 지적되었다. 이에 따라, 이용자 중심의 서비스 품질 강화와 지속적인 모니터링 및 평가를 통한 서비스 향상뿐만 아니라 적극적인 홍보가 필요함을 제시하였다.
