RésuméObjectif. Cette étude comporte quatre objectifs: 1) Examiner l’association entre la victimisation sexuelle et la régulation du poids auprès de trois échantillons d’adolescentes, 2) évaluer si la victimisation sexuelle est associée avec des formes extrêmes de régulation du poids chez les filles, 3) discerner si la victimisation sexuelle a des implications dans l’utilisation de formes multiples de régulation du poids, et 4) aborder le rôle de la victimisation physique pour expliquer ces relations.Méthode. On a utilisé les données de trois échantillons séparés d’élèves de la 9ième à la 12ième année pour tester ces hypothèses. Des filles du haut Middle-West ont répondu aux questions d’une enquête concernant la victimisation et la régulation du poids. Elles appartenaient à un échantillon urbain(N = 2,086),à un échantillon rural (N = 2,629), et à un échantillon provenant de l’ensemble de l’Etat.Résultats. Une régression logique a révélé que la victimisation sexuelle était bien associée à la régulation du poids chez les adolescentes, indépendamment des effets de la victimisation physique. Dans l’échantillon urbain, la victimisation sexuelle était associée à une augmentation de la probabilité de prendre des purgatifs pour près de 18% par comparaison avec les non-victimisées sexuellement. La victimisation sexuelle était associée plus fortement avec des formes extrêmes de régulation du poids et discriminait significativement la possibilité pour les filles de choisir des formes multiples de régulation de leur poids.Conclusions. La victimisation sexuelle contribue selon une variance exceptionnelle à la probabilité selon laquelle les filles choisiront des techniques multiples de régulation de leur poids. Les données de trois échantillons indépendants confirment que le fait d’avoir été violées sexuellement place les adolescentes dans des situations à risque pour leur santé en recourant à des comportements alimentaires variés.
