La mise au point d'un modele experimental pour l'etude du syndrome du tunnel carpien chez le singe rhesus (Macaca mulatta) en phase aigue, a permis l'evaluation des variations des potentials evoques somesthesiques du nerf median en fonction de la pression interne du tunnel. Deux ondes (Aβ et Aδ) de ces potentiels evoques par stimulation electrocutanee du doigt ont ete recueillies en superficie au niveau du coude. Une augmentation de la pression interne du tunnel carpien a conduit a une reduction d'amplitude de l'onde Aβ, parfois precedee d'une legere elevation, et pouvant aller jusqu'a la suppression de cette onde pour des pressions egales ou superieures a 31 mm Hg. De meme, une elevation d'amplitude suivie d'une reduction et d'une suppression de l'onde Aδ ont aussi ete observees apres l'augmentation de la pression. La restauration de l'onde Aβ s'est faite a une vitesse proportionnelle a celle de l'abolition de cette onde. Les implications de ces donnees sont discutees en relation avec la neuropathologie et le diagnostic du syndrome du tunnel carpien.
