RésuméCancer et tourisme. La recherche qui examine la relation entre la santé et le tourisme est limitée. En particulier, on a considéré peu souvent les effets de la maladie antérieurement et sans rapport au tourisme. Cet article rapporte les résultats empiriques d’une étude qualitative qu’on a entreprise pour une telle exploration. L’investigation traite essentiellement de la tendance au tourisme des patients en traitement pour le cancer, une population qui est en grande partie négligée par les chercheurs. Le rôle de la santé comme facteur moteur ou inhibiteur est contesté, et des modèles de participation avant et après diagnostic/traitement sont examinés. En se basant sur cette recherche et des recherches apparentées antérieures, on développe un modèle pour réfléchir et expliquer plus clairement les besoins de vacances des patients à différentes étapes de la maladie.
