We selected Eum-Goong basin as study site located in downstream of Nak-Dong river and conducted a study to reveal the treatment efficiency of high rate filtration system with inclined plate separator treating non-point pollutant including industrial wastewater occurred in urban area. The treatment method consists of inclined plate separator and up-flow high rate filtration with porous polyethlene covered activated carbon. The majority of storm runoff pollution is trapped in particles smaller than 100 mm in diameter. When the retention time was 10min, SS removal efficiency was approximately 30% in the inclined plate separator. The average removal efficiency of the stormwater in Eum-Goong basin which has high pollution intensity was about 80% for SS, about 40% for CODCr, about 50% for total phosphorus(TP) and about 30% for total nitrogen by high rate filtration. The high rate filtration with inclined plate separator is excellent removing smaller size particulate of suspended solids that range is 1-100/μm. When operating with 500m/day, 750m/day. 1000m/day, backwashing cycle were 120 minutes, 100 minutes and 50 minutes, respectively.
