This treatise is focused on the two aspects of our cultural heritage. First of all, it is something that must be preserved, but at the same time, something that should be taken selectively. Since translation studies is now treated as an independent branch of study and thought to have contributed to the culture in general, it is possible to approach the aspects from the perspective of translation studies. Indeed, it presupposes the comparative efforts on culture itself to study literary texts from the perspective of translation studies. it adds another reliable viewpoint to the literary studies. It is a well-known fact that the Korean literature witnessed the influx of Western literary heritage especially during the first half of the 20th Century. Surely it enriched the Korean literature. However, considering the face that Western literary thoughts had already long been standing the test of time, such a hasty introduction of Western culture had its own side effects. The attempts for the correction of the situation are getting its firmer grounds and also widely conducted. If translation is a cultural approach between two different worlds and if it helps to improve the understanding of its own culture, it is reasonable to say that it bears the responsibilities for the aforementioned attempts. In this treatise, the main Issues are the concept of romanticism and the sample translation texts by Park Yong-chul in the introduction of German romanticism to the Korean literature. The methods used here can also be applied to the introduction of English romanticism during 1930s by Simunhakpa. The balanced approach to the Korean literature can only be achieved when this methodology is tried and tested for the study of other cases of literary thoughts' introduction in the Korean peninsular.
