This research project is a case study based on a test subject, a six aged girl, K. An Art Therapy was implemented on the subject who has overall development delay. The Developmental Art Therapy was implemented every once or twice a week (each session lasting 40 minutes), and there were total of forty-nine sessions. The conclusions obtained from the study result are as follow; First, in cognitive development area, concepts of numbers and quantity are now possible. The subject can now distinguish physical parts of her body and concepts about sense of distance and direction is formed. Second, in physical development area, acts of play catch, cutting papers by using scissors, opening bottle caps and etc are now possible. Art therapy has assisted in development of gross motor and fine motor. Third, in language development area, from the level when only egocentric speech was possible now telegraphic speech can also be used. That is a development from one or two words sentences to three or four word sentences, which also means development into egocentric words and sentences. As egocentric speech has decreased, abilities of communication and expression have improved. Fourth, in social skill development area, associating activities with the fellow children of her age group has increased. Now the subject can take care of" her own urination and defecation by herself. Also by use of cutlery such as fork, she began to feed herself. At the latter part of the therapy, the subject actively participated in games. Her participation in the creative and constructive game has greatly increased. Fifth, in emotion development area, separation with the mother was achieved. The subject was delighted in following simple songs and dances. Her emotional instability seen by playing with clay has decreased. The subject has actively expressed her emotions in games with her friends, art activities and so forth. As mentioned above the Developmental Art Therapy program is highly effective for development delay children. It has shown its effectiveness for improving development delay children"s language, social, cognition, physical emotional and etc in all aspects.
