Résumé Les recommandations de bonnes pratiques pour la prise en charge de l’arthrose des membres mettent en avant la prise en charge non pharmacologique qui associe outre l’information et l’éducation, la pratique régulière d’un programme d’activité physique et la réduction pondérale. La prise en charge par l’activité physique concerne à la fois des exercices spécifiques et l’activité de type aérobie. Ces traitements physiques dont le niveau de preuve est élevé sont en 1re intention prescrits et réalisés sous la supervision d’un professionnel de santé qualifié et doivent secondairement être intégrés au mode de vie pour être pratiqués régulièrement à moyen et long terme. Un travail complémentaire d’information voire d’éducation thérapeutique des patients est par conséquent indissociable de cette prise en charge. Le recours à l’appareillage est un traitement de seconde intention complémentaire des mesures citées précédemment. La prescription d’orthèses est très variable dans l’arthrose selon les praticiens (expérience, formation) mais mérite d’être considéré pour l’ensemble des patients en dépit d’un niveau de preuve intermédiaire. La formation spécifique des médecins et la mise à disposition d’outils d’aide à la prescription dans ce domaine semblent indispensables.
