To remove pollutants in the exhaust gases from a liquid fuel driven engine, a turbosupercharger, including a turbine and a compressor, is combined with the engine to provide both afterburning and catalytic oxidation. The exhaust gases are accumulated to provide combustion in advance of the turbine.
