An operator selects the combinations best suited to test the tire according to the user\s specifications. The tire is rotated and measured for lateral runout of both sidewalls. The resulting data is converted to digital form and analyzed according to the selected combinations of sensors and testing algorithms.

In a tire manufacturing process including assembling and curing components of the tire and testing the cured tire by detecting tire data from at least a first sensor means and a second sensor means and analyzing the data by at least a first testing algorithm and a second testing algorithm, an improved method for enabling an operator to select combinations of said sensor means and said testing algorithms in order to analyze the tire based on the selected combination, said method comprising the steps of: generating signals representative of at least one combination of sensor means and a testing algorithm, each said combination comprising at least one of said first and second sensor means and at least one of said first and second testing algorithms; storing data obtained from the represented sensor means; analyzing the data according to the represented testing algorithm; and indicating the condition of the tire in response to the analysis of the data.
