A back rest assembly for the tandem seat of a motorcycle includes a bodily removable back rest with a pair of spaced, depending, parallel legs which can be fitted into any one of a plurality of pairs of oppositely disposed leg sockets mounted along a pair of elongated sub-frame pieces, the sub-frame pieces being fixed to the motorcycle to extend along opposite sides of the tandem seat.
