A portable quick chilling and heating appliance for beverages and the like comprising, in combination, (a) a generally cylindrical container having a fluid tight lower section and a non-fluid tight upper section; (b) a coil of metallic tubing having an upper end portion and a lower end portion, said coil being housed within the lower section of said container in spaced relation with the inner peripheral wall thereof; (c) said upper end portion terminating in an intake; (d) said lower end portion terminating in an outlet; (e) a cover having a concave upper face and defining a closure for the upper section of said container; (f) means defining a fluid reservoir in said concave upper face of said cover having an inner diameter at least as great as the inner diameter of said container and also having a lowest point; (g) means defining a fluid-tight connection between the lowest point of said reservoir and said upper end portion of said coil; (h) an upwardly extending wall in the upper section of said container situated above said coil; and (i) means defining at least one aperture in said upwardly extending wall above said coil for loading ice or a heating medium into said container.
