Aerodynamic flow conditions at the air intake of gas turbine engines, especially aircraft engines, comprising boundary layer deflectors are improved by movably arranging the boundary layer deflectors so that they may be retracted flush into the aircraft fuselage during take-off and low speed flight, and may be extended to an operating position during high speed flight.
