A shield for a paint roller is adapted for washing a paint roller while the roller is mounted within the shield. The paint shield includes a splash guard that when not being used for washing, is rotated into a splatter guard. When the roller is to be washed, the spray shield is rotated to cover the opening defined by the splatter guard.
