The lip seal device includes a housing, a rotary shaft rotatably supported in the housing, a case through which the rotary shaft passes, a sleeve fixed to the rotary shaft, and a sealing member formed of two sheets of lips, the outer end portions of which are attained to the case and the inner end portions of which are in sliding contact with the outside circumferential surface of the sleeve, whereby the generation of abnormal noise in the automobile engine is effectively controlled.
