A method of installing a lightweight and flexible transmission line into and along a length of previously installed tubular pathway between first and second ends of the pathway, said method comprising the steps of: injecting a gaseous medium within said pathway toward said second end at a flow velocity substantially higher than the rate at which said transmission line is to be advanced therealong; inserting a free end of said transmission line into said pathway; and propelling said transmission line through said tubular pathway by continuing said injecting step so as to produce viscous drag forces distributed along the advancing length of the transmission line then disposed within the pathway while the transmission line advances at a velocity substantially leis than the gaseous flow velocity until said free end of the transmission line reaches said second end of pathway.
