A retainer is mounted to the frame to define a channel having a latching axis and this retainer is shaped to receive a striker moving along the latching axis and to retain the striker against movement transverse to the latching axis. A catch is pivotably mounted in the retainer to move between an open position and a closed position. A linkage interconnects the paddle handle and the catch such that the paddle handle operates to move the catch between the open and closed positions.
