The weapon system 116 comprises a two stage missile 92 adapted to be fired from a preloaded launch tube assembly 82 and a launcher assembly 20. The initial recoil effects of firing at first being partially reduced with a plenum chamber 90, secondly by rear seal pressure relief ports 89, further reduced through a pneumatic pressure release system housed within the launcher assembly 20 and finally minimized by recoil pads 36 and 38.
