A plurality of pairs of identifying tags are provided. Each pair is made up of two identical tags, with each tag of each pair having a main, elongated, body-portion, preferably made of plastic, such as polyvinylchloride, in which is embedded a thin, elongated strip of flexible, pliable steel wire. A method of identifying cooperating or mating parts comprising: (a) removably attaching a first identifying tag having identifying indicia thereon to a first one of the cooperating parts; and (b) removably attaching a second identifying tag having the same identifying indicia thereon to a second one of the cooperating parts; said step (a) comprising inserting the first tag into a hole of the first part; and said step (b) comprising enwrapping the second tag about a portion of the second part.
