An inorganic fiber, at least 90% by weight of which comprises 20-50% by weight of CaO and 50-80% by weight of Al2O3, and up to 10% by weight of which comprises impurities, based on the weight of the fiber, with the proviso that the fiber contain up to 1.5% by weight of SiO2.
