An apparatus for extraction of weeds and other vegetation by hand or by using a power driver. The apparatus includes a hollow housing having at least one slot in which a planar shaft is slidably disposed. An extraction head is detachably coupled to the shaft, and can be extended or retracted by movement of the shaft within the housing. The extraction head can include a plurality of pointed prongs separated by a V-shaped notch, in which case the prongs are extended and inserted into the soil over the vegetation to be removed.
