A pulsed injection system for injecting a stream of high pressure liquid into the ground is used for distributing liquid in a turf root zone. Each nozzle of the apparatus includes one or more nozzle openings which are arranged at an angle to the vertical so that the stream generated is not vertical but instead projects outwardly from the nozzle with a partly horizontal component of direction.
