A latch is on the housing for latching the connector to the complementary electrical device. The latch is movable relative to the housing generally transversely of the mating axis. An actuator is mounted on the housing for movement relative thereto generally parallel to the mating axis. The actuator is coupled to the latch to convert axial movement of the actuator to transverse movement of the latch.
