A bed plate for a fluid bed apparatus comprises a great plurality of bulges or dents each having at least one through-going gas flow opening defined therein. Conventional bed plates having openings of the gill type inevitably comprises small cracks or notches formed in the edge portion defining each of the gas flow openings.
