Goods in open cases can be positioned on the cart at a bias along lateral shelves which allows an inventory control clerk to quickly scan the bar codes of the items without removal of the cases from the cart as they enter the store. The cart also includes a stabilizing mechanism to prevent movement as the cart is loaded or unloaded from a truck on a lift gate.
