초록

A method for making an activated carbon-supported catalyst involves providing an inorganic support having a continuous coating of activated carbon, activated carbon being derived from a synthetic carbon precursor, introducing a catalyst precursor into the pore structure of the activated carbon, and thermally treating the catalyst precursor to form an activated carbon-supported catalyst.

[ What is claimed is:] [1.] A method of making an activated carbon-supported catalyst, the method comprising;a) providing an inorganic support having a continuous coating of activated carbon wherein the activated carbon is derived from a synthetic carbon precursor by steps comprising carbonizing, and activating the precursor to form said continuous coating of activated carbon;b) introducing a catalyst precursor into the pore structure of the activated carbon; andc) thermally treating the catalyst precursor to form an activated carbon-supported catalyst.
