[ What is claimed:] [1.] A microemulsion composition comprising approximately by weight:(a) 0.1% to 10% of at least one disinfecting agent;(b) 0.1 wt. % to 10 wt. % of at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated nonionic surfactants;(c) 0.1% to 10% of an amphoteric surfactant;(d) 1% to 16% of at least one water soluble solvent;(e) 0.01% to 2% of a C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 mono or dicarboxylic acid or an alpha hydroxy carboxylic acid which is partially neutralized with an alkali metal hydroxide, a dialkanol amine or a trialkanol amine;(f) 0.05% to 3% of a water insoluble organic hydrocarbon, essential oil or a perfume; and(g) the balance being water, said composition having a pH of about 1.5 to about 6.
