A method of friction welding a first wall provided within a housing of an airbag gas generator to a second wall provided within the housing, the first and second walls defining a chamber for accommodating an igniter therein, comprising:placing the first wall in contact with the second wall to form the chamber; inserting a weld burr restriction member into the chamber; friction welding the first and the second walls by rotating the first wall with respect to the second wall while the weld burr restriction member is being inserted into the chamber such that formation of welding burrs inside the chamber is restricted to provide a space to insert and accommodate the igniter in the chamber after the friction welding; and removing the weld burr restriction member from the chamber after the friction welding.
